Then how do you propose to do things like
TYPE, CREATOR, ICONS, etc. tags? And these are needed, if you want to give
a superior user interface compared to Win32. (These are some of the
technical means of the UI superiority of Macs over PCs even nowadays.)
Actually, I've proposed to define it as an API with plug modules, so
on an binary the thing could read it's resource fork from the binary, on
certain datafiles it could store them in the data file, and other still it
could create some extra file or directory.
Concerning cp, mv, et al:
- do it the GUI way. Works everywhere.
- patch the GNU fileutils. Works on every GNU based system.
- tell the advanced user: caveat user.
