The test program was written using Gtk+-0.99.10 on a Debian Linux
pre-2.0 machine (GNU libc 2.0.7pre1, gcc 2.7.2.3, XFree86 3.3.2).  I
see the same tree problems using Gtk+-0.99.10 on a SunOS 5.5.1
machine (gcc 2.7.1).
