Oops, I didn't even notice g_s_connect_interp was there. Yes, that should
simplify matters.

Functions that are to be called automatically, in order, when gtk_main()
is invoked. I've no idea what the specific reason for them is.

Yes, I think the macros separate everything out acceptably.
