CVS and releases of GTK and GIMP

I see that most of the patches to the GTK and the GIMP are now
integrated quickly into the CVS tree.  This is a good thing for
developers who can then check the CVS tree in order to be up-to-date
with the patches.

However, some developers (like myself) are accessing the Internet
through a corporate firewall which prevents any direct access to the
CVS repository.  This means that we have to rely on "regular" releases
accessible via HTTP or anonymous FTP.  Unfortunately, the regular
releases of GTK seem to be a bit less frequent now that the CVS tree
is actively used.  Some bugs that have been fixed two weeks ago (such
as the xshm bug in gtk+970925, which prevents X shared memory from
working on all systems but Linux) are still affecting the people who
cannot access CVS.

I've been thinking about this...  Would it be possible to set up a
script which creates one or several tar files automatically every
night from the current version of GTK or GIMP in the CVS repository?
This would not replace the regular releases, but it would be useful
for developers who want to work on the latest version and cannot
access CVS.
