Doing a 'whois gnome.org' gives some insight:

   Domain Name: GNOME.ORG
   Domain Status: On Hold
                  ^^^^^^^
...
   NS1.OBJECTIX.COM             155.45.249.101
   NS2.OBJECTIX.COM             206.112.195.207


So the domain isn't active.  You can query the ns(1|2).objectix.com
for the IP adresses you want.
