[gtk-list] Cannot load pixmaps ...

In the following code fragment :

pixmap = gdk_pixmap_create_from_xpm( parent->window, &mask,
     &style->fg[GTK_STATE_NORMAL], xpm_filename);

I get a : ** WARNING **: XShmAttach failed!
and the pixmap is not loaded.
(Platform is Solaris 2.6 / Sun Ultra)
I'm sure everything else is Ok(filename, etc.)
This code is also included in the tutorial ...

I would appreciate any help.
