compiling problem...

I've commented out the inclusion of wchar.h in both gdktypes.h & 
gdki18n.h, and that solved my first problem... But now I've encountered 
another one.. The compilation proceedes normally until:

.libs/libgtk.so: undefined reference to 'iswalnum'
make[1]: ***[test gtk] Error 1
make[1] Leaving directory '/dls/gtk+971201/gtk'
make: ***[install-recursive] Error 1

Anyone seen this before?
