Well, I set LD_LIBRARY_CONFIG as indicated, did the usual ./configure, and make, and still got the same errors.  :( 

 

I am using gcc version 3.3.2, gnu make version 3.80.

It is LD_LIBRARY_PATH not CONFIG
Add -L/usr/local/lib -lgobject-2.0 also, and try again.
