pango ?

Hi..
  
  I am going to create one application in GTK with pango. In the normal program, if it contains 
the English string in the following label,
  button = gtk_button_new_with_label ("Hai!");
  It displayed correctly.

 If i replace the string with 'UTF-8' characters, it didn't display anything.
 What should I add to display the UTF-8 characters using pango?
