Hi,
GtkIMContextXIM does not support either over-the-spot or off-the-spot.
It cannot, because these
styles will require a XFontSet, but gtk+2.0 does not use the XFontSet.
For gtk-im-preedit-style and gtk-im-status-style, "callback" for
on-the-spot and "nothing" for root-window-style are valid values, and
they should be effective at run-time by changing with
gconftool-2.
I think latest xcin should have on-the-spot support - does not it?
Regards,
Toshi

Hi,
I have a few question related to the input method issue of GTK2 (both 2.0 and 2.2)
First of all, after I have upgrade the GTK2.2, I find that, there is two new gconf key
available. One is gtk-im-preedit-style, and the other is gtk-im-status-style. What are
the possible value for these items? The default is callback, does "position", "nothing"
"area" are also work?
In my situation, the only suitable immodule for me is still the xim, because I don't
know if there is any native gtk immodule which is for tradition chinese? Hence I got
my second question, are there any immodule for T.chinese, or there is even center
place which offer the available immodule in the world?
As I've stated above, I use the xim module, while the real XIM server is xcin, a very
xim server, which provide only "root" and "overthespot" style. Even though I have set
my favour style is "overthespot", when I trigger on my IM server in gedit, the server
still present me with the "root" style, anyone can tell me a correct way to specfy
my preferred im style through gtk parameter, or whatever means?
Lastly, in my understanding, changing the value in gconf db, the effects will reflect in
real time, right? So, is it true that, all gtk2 based apps will use my preferred preedit
setting when I changed the setting in gconf?
Sorry for this long long and boring questions!!
Lau
