Can't Build Pango From CVS

I'm trying to build Pango from the latest CVS and get the following from
the configure script:
./configure: line 7008: syntax error near unexpected token
`AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0($GLIB_REQUIRED_VERSION,'
./configure: line 7008: `AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0($GLIB_REQUIRED_VERSION, :,'
Is there a known workaround for this problem?
