undeclared entities

I discovered that gtk-doc emits a bunch of   which render the 
produced docbook invalid
unless the driver file happens to declare that entity in its internal DTD 
subset. I would like to 
change gtk-doc to emit numeric character references   instead. I 
don't know if the docbook 
stylesheets manage to convert this back to   for dumb browsers like 
NS4. Do you consider this 
a problem ?
