gtk2-2.8.4 build problem

hi folks,


the configure script of gtk2-2.8.4 isn't able to "detect" X11,
even if I pass the pathes directly (--with-x-includes etc),
because its too stupid for passing the right pathes to CC when
building the test program.

Is there any consistent way for disabling all these reading 
of tea leaves and instead nailing the values directly into it ?
