It works if I do: > MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 firefox I think the Gecko Pango support ends up assuming that Pango is using Xft, which is no longer the case with GTK+ HEAD ... the cairo Pango backend is a different subclass of PangoFcFontMap.
