drop shadow on text

Hi,

I just want to know if it is possible to put a "drop shadow" on a text
(a text in button, a label, an entry box, and any widget who can display
text).
Apparently there is a patch for a drop shadow effect
(http://www.xfce.org/gtkmenu-shadow/), but it is specific the menus.

I've looked in the documentation, and a bit in gtk's sources. and it
does not seem the be possible (without inside modification i mean).

Does anybody knows more about that ?
