DnD problems with plugs/sockets

I recently ran into a problem with drag and drop on gtk+-2.5.x. The bug
is reported here:

It seems that widgets inside GtkPlugs don't work as drag destinations
any more. With the example program attached to the bug, the button
inside the plug works as a drag destination when run with GTK 2.4.10,
but doesn't work with CVS HEAD.
This prevents panel applets from acting as drag destinations, among
other things.
