gtk+-2.4.3 and X11R5

Is gtk+-2.4.3 suppose to build against X11R5?
gdk/x11/gdkasync.c depends on xReply. On Solaris 2.5.1, X11R5-based,
NEED_REPLIES must be defined for the xReply typedef. NEED_REPLIES is
defined in <X11/Xlibint.h> if XTHREADS is defined or if
<X11/extensions/XIproto.h> is included. I have no idea what XTHREADS
is but is it a bad idea for force inclusion of
<X11/extensions/XIproto.h>?
