GTK samples

Hello,

Are there any GTK or GDK samples available that demonstrate
rendering to GtkImage? 

Also I am tracking the mouse position using GtkDrawingArea
which works fine. The thing I notice about the documentation
is the lack of actual drawing functions other than draw_arc.

Thus I am trying to use GtkImage for drawing instead.

Scribble style rendering is not what I am looking for since
it renders directly to the base window and not to the 
Drawing Area widget. (Or is it......?)
