gobject property change notifications

hi hi,

does gobject automaticly provides "notify::mysignal" signals, that are triggered
when the property changes or does a class author has to provide that manually.
I've not found anything in the gobject reference and I would like to write some
paragraphs about this in the gobject-doc.
So any details, example code snippets are very welcome.
