exposing GtkFileChooserEntry to the public?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a file entry completion widget that can be
used and adapted by third-party apps like Nautilus, run dialogs and
friends? The file chooser seems to be perfectly suitable for this task,
taking into account that it perfectly adapts to different file backends.
Can't we have this exposed to the public as a stand-alone widget?
