RE: Making GtkMenuMerge nice to demo

Another thing that occurred to me:

While merging and demerging ui, it can easily happen that separators end up
in unfortunate positions, e.g. at the very end or next to each other. This
can be seen when playing around with testmerge a bit.

Would it make sense to implement some kind of "smart separator" behaviour
which would hide separators at the very end or beginning of a menu/toolbar or
when the preceding sibling is a tearoff menuitem or a separator ? This could
be the default behaviour, and we could provide an attribute in the XML ui
description to turn it off.

Does this sound helpful, or confusing ?
