Sorry for the typo, but as far as I can see, it doesn't break the build,
it just makes the gif loader unusable. But the only change I can see
in 

cvs diff -u -rGTK_2_0_6 -r GTK_2_0_7 io-gif.c

is the CHECK_LZW_SP stuff. The looping control stuff was already in
2.0.6. 

What bug do you see in the decoding of gps-animation.gif, exactly ? 
Displays fine for me with current CVS.
