the patch looks ok to me and also fixes some severe bugs
(reading out an enum value with g_value_get_int() simply doesn't
work).
just go ahead and commit, jrb can still fix things up later if
he thinks it breaks something ;)

nope, i'm pretty certain owen won't remake tarballs for this,
and despite the patch looking good, it won't hurt to give
it some testing before it gets into a release.
