Yes, 

that makes a lot of sense. One idea/plan I had wrt. to test-random
is to base it on files as well. Instead of hardcoding signatures, it could
just read an initial section of an image file and append random bytes 
to it.

PS Running a loop of random test on the png testsuite has already
uncovered some more png loader crashes...
