GtkAllocation coordinate question

Are the x and y coordinate values in the GtkAllocation part of a GtkWidget 
(widget->allocation.x and widget->allocation.y) relative to screen coordinates 
or relative to parent window or top level window coordinates? It is not clear 
from the docs.
