The "GTK 2 roadmap" from a year ago vs. the "GTK 2 final feature list"
is pretty funny. ;-)

Actually we did a bunch of cleanup work and nice things not in the
roadmap I guess, though we dumped some big stuff we wanted (sheet
widget, menu API, etc.) to make room.
