Progressbar Problem

I'm a bigginer....
Is there any priority in gtk or linux between
refreshing window and other jobs?
I wrote a program that is a looping with updating porgressbar but all the other jobs are going well but the
progressbar was stopped until other jobs are completed.
and the progressbar growing instantly.
I have no other idea except priority......
How can i solve this problem...please help me....
*Looping count is progress rate.
