This is really ancient, use gtk+-1.0.6 if you want to stick to the 1.0
series, or better use gtk+-1.2.6. Note that gtk+-1.0.6 hasn't been
maintained for over a year.

Just install the gtk+-1.2 package and the gtk+-1.2 developer package. SuSE
6.2 comes standard with gtk+-1.2.x.

SuSE also comes with GNOME stuff and AFAIK there are newer packages on the
GNOME site (sorry I can't check, the GNOME web site is down).
