	Your information is not specific enough.  What applications are 
you using to compare?  What window manager are you using?  What theme?
What factor of speed difference?  What other apps are you running?

	For me, GTk+ applications seem to redraw FASTER than KDE/Qt apps.
The discussion is pointless unless you have specific details...
