The GNU gettext system is based on the Solaris gettext (according to
the gettext info file). Problems can occur, however if one uses a
<libintl.h> from GNU gettext, and links against Solaris libc.

My suggestion is to remove all traces of GNU gettext from the system
and use the one in the Solaris libc.
