The solution for me was to comment the line:
include $(top_srcdir)/tools/Makefile_list_of_sources.am_fragment

from the files:
build_shared/Makefile_gensrc.am_fragment
tools/Makefile.am
tools/m4/Makefile.am

And run autoreconf.
I'll submit this patch to bugzilla.
