I definitely vote for this. GNOME integration should be an option, or better
a separable set of tools/libs, so that distro pkg maintainer can provide eg.
ekiga_... ekiga-gnome_... where the latter would be either GNOME-dependent
replacement for the first, or possibly an addon for GNOME integration.

I'm keeping ekiga and gnomemeeting, as well as other good stuff, off my 
systems just for that.
