hi!
i don't know if this is a bug or if i'm missing something...
i've just installed gnomemeeting v1.0.2 with the pwlib alsa plugin v1.6.5.
i'm running fedora core 1 with alsa v1.0.4 and a SiS SI7018 onboard sound
card. the alsa sound system works perfectly in general and i'm not using
any other sound servers (e.g. esound).
when i run the gnomemeeting config druid, with alsa chosen as the audio
manager, and (on p6) hit the "test settings" button and talk into the mic
(which does work fine with the alsa sound system, in full duplex), the
level meter in the "audio test running" window doesn't register any
signal, but i hear a distorted white-noise sound in the headphones, with
about a 4-second delay. this noise doesn't appear to bear any relation at
all to my voice.
when i choose OSS as the audio manager, it works fine. OSS isn't installed
(well, the modules aren't inserted, anyway) and alsa is working fine with
all sorts of other things - including jack (jack audio connection kit),
which only works with alsa.
i installed gnomemeeting and the alsa and oss modules from the fc1 rpms
from the gnomemeeting web site.
any ideas about what's going on?
thanks
will
