[GnomeMeeting-list] my internet connection gets slowed down

hey all

when I use gnomemeeting my internet connection gets extremely slow and I get 
disconnected from MSN messenger through gaim and website get minutes to load. 
this is my ping on yahoo.com when I use gnomemeeting:
64 bytes from 66.218.71.113: icmp_seq=279 ttl=49 time=882.3 ms

this is my ping when I don't use it:
64 bytes from 66.218.71.113: icmp_seq=294 ttl=49 time=179.4 ms

that only happens when I use it with kernel 2.6.x (.1 and .5) it didn't use to 
happen on my 2.4.22 although it did slow down my ping and upload rates but 
not that much.

is there something I can do to lessen that effect?
