1) The permissions of your sound devices changed, so I would say: look
at the permissions of your video device ;
2) Check the driver is loaded (dmesg) (that would be 1 on the list if
you hadn't had sound permission problems) ;

Btw, you should consider moving to alsa, which is so much better
generallly.
