OK, thanks for the tip. Ideally, this should be done by the rpm installation script. I don't know how, but it works for the Mandrake RPM. I don't understand why you need to do the install-schema-file as a normal user, as I never done that. Oh, perhaps you need to do a gconftool --shutdown after havine done it as root. If you do so, I think you do not need to do it as a normal user.
