that's the reason why I wrote "perhaps bound to a checkbox in the
preferences". The checkbox could be named "Use interface from default
route".

Most of the laptop users have a straightforward routing table, and how
many interfaces does a laptop usually have? Wired, wireless and perhaps
a VPN.
