If I was you, I would try to "sniff" the PDUs with etherreal and
compare, because you received this :

The PDU is invalid, no realm specified, no auth method.

It could be OPAL of course, or it could be FWD. Here, FWD works. So it
would be interesting that you run the latest version of OPAL, try again,
and if it fails, then try to sniff the PDU's you receive with Ethereal
to see if FWD is sending a broken PDU or if OPAL is receiving a correct
PDU and breaking it.
