Updated, and works fine now. Does a little disk "intensive" stuff for a
little while at startup, and finally showed the "splash" screen for
1.00. 
My locale is en_US.UTF-8.

It is working fine now.

P.S.: I know, Damien, I'll update ca.po soon! ;-) Do we already have a
string freeze? If so, shouldn't we tell i18n?
