True..., unless the user selects a high quality image of his/her face
from his/her latest and grates 10 Mpixels digital camera. GnomeMeeting
will just load the image and scale it to appropriate dimensions. If the
loading was not async and the user is his ignorance selected such an
image GM would block for a potentially long time and the user would
think it has crashed.

In other words, is there any reason to not load the image asynchronously
(that is not simplicity)?
