gnome configuration files

hi,
I would like to know where GNOME stores its configuration files
that has the information of fonts icon desktop icon size and menu
size.. In KDE these are stored in "/.kde/share/config/ " folder in
the home folder of the user. I want to know the same for GNOME..I
would like to change this information manually and find the respective
changes on the front end.
please help.....
