I really like what you did with the top area (making it white and putting
the headers in there). I also like what you did with setting the search
are off from the other links. The white lines section behind the new
software is headed in the right direction, but I think that we could come
up with something better to put behind there - possibly a 50% opacity
grid, but in 3d, or use a different shape (hexagons?). The search button
is good, but it adds another style to what we already have. I think we
need to come up with a style or theme that we can use throughout the site
- the search button goes ok with the gnome icons, but not with the menu
system. having two different styles may be ok (ie, icons and the search
button) but three different styles might create a non-uniform effect on
the page.
I think it would be good to leave the curve in the black bar. the Gnome
logo itself doesn't have a straight edge on it, and having that curve
helps balance the page, creates central eye flow, and adds a flowing and
not so rigid feel to the page. (In my opinion anyway) I do agree that the
curve in my comp should be redone, possibly with a small curve radius. I
was also experimenting with making the black bar shorter vertically.
(almost a thin horizontal line)
As for the menu, I like the bullets and how you have one whole section as
a different color. But I really don't like the colours. Gnome colors are
subdued and have more earthy tones. This doesn't mean that we have to use
bland and washed out colors, I just think we need to work on finding a more
"GNOMEish" color scheme for the menu. Some of the previous posts have some really good
color schemes.

I'm totally ok with it - I've used tigert's icons in my design myself.
Overally, I like it. Let's keep making revisions.
