gethostbyname

Hi,

While looking at bug #76283, I found this doc:
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/libc-hacker/2000-07/msg00487.html. 
It seems to indicate that gethostbyname isn't thread-safe. gnome-vfs
uses it in gnome-vfs-inet-connection.c, and in my understanding, these
functions should be thread-safe. 

I was just wondering if my expectations were right and if a bug should
be opened about it ?
