I think that I should make it clear that the purpose of the society is
simply to provide the means to get a bank account. The only benefit of
membership is being able to choose who is on the committee. I am quite
happy for this to be a privilege limited to being GF members only (nb: I
myself am not a GF member).

Just to make it clear: membership of the society should not be a
pre-requisite for attending events or getting involved in pushing GNOME
in the UK.
