[gnome-slackware]compiling gtk

Hello,

I am trying to make a slack package of gtk-2.0.0

i run ./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome2
make
make install prefix=/work/builds/opt/gnome2

but it hardcodes the /work/builds/opt/gnome2 into some of the libraries 
(for dependencies) and then cannot find those files (because they are in 
/opt/gnome2) when i install the pkg

so does anyone know how to make gtk compile with the hardcoded paths to 
/opt/gnome2?
