You have to _remove_ old headers from /usr/X11R6/include/freetype, pango
needs freetype-2.x.x headers, but compiler (preprocesor) finds old
headers in /usr/X11R6/include/freetype... so just simply:
rm -fr /usr/X11R6/include/freetype
nobody uses it anymore :P
No you don't need qt support, it is optional.
