Hello,
I am required to run redhat advanced server 2.1 (2.4.9-e.12 kernel).
I need to install gnome 2.2 on it, but I am having no luck.
I have tried cvsgnome, garnome and jhbuild. All three systems have had
severe problems for various reasons.
Is there any other method for installing gnome onto this system.
Cheers,

I would recommend pulling the SRPMS from RawHide or from the RH9 CDs and
'hand-building' yourself to a functional GD2.2 system. The dependencies
will probably be quite numerous, but at least they are covered and
should lead you to a functioning system with the added bonus of it all
being covered under your normal package management. You will probably
need to update a lot of the development environment such as GCC and the
like which may lead to others, but in the end, it should be worth it.
Gnome's site has a list of the order the pieces should be installed
that you can use to guide you through the RPMS.
