/usr/lib/libbonobo.la missing from bonobo-devel

When I try to build packages that require bonobo, libtool will complain
about failure to find /usr/lib/libbonobo.la. This when bonobo and
bonobo-devel from GNOMEhide are installed. Shouldn't .la files be included
in the devel package?
