[Gnome-print] how gnome-print breaks paragraphs into lines

Hi,

can anyone please explain to me which algorithm gnome-print (or gnome-text)
uses to break paragraphs into lines? I read somewhere that gnome-print does
a better job than TeX does, but it was not mentioned why it is better. Is
it faster, or does it produce more visually pleasant output etc.?
