There have been plenty of reports of timeout problems with
gnome-pilot USB connections. Several people have found
that increasing the timeout in the control-applet from the
default 2 to 4 or 5 helps matters.
After poking around the pilot-link / gnome-pilot source, it
appears that the timeout sent to pilot-link should be in
milliseconds, whereas gnome-pilot thinks it is in seconds.
So, if you are having any problems with timeout, I suggest
increasing the timeout to the maximum 100.
It's a shame this cropped up just after 2.0.12 has been put
together, but clearly the default should be more than
2 milliseconds.
I guess there might be a 2.0.13 to address the serious USB
mouse/mass-storage/gnome-pilot interference that has
recently been reported.
Matt
